FONS - Friends of Norristhorpe School

                                           18th December 2017

Dear Parents,

At the beginning of this school year, a letter was sent to all parents regarding support for FONS.  We had a really good response from parents who said they would be happy to help at events either organising, shopping or attending.  However, most parents said they did not want to be part of a committee, therefore we have no Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer.

With this in mind, we have taken the decision to disband FONS and run all the fundraising events through school. All the usual events will be held, discos, Friday Fun night, Christmas Movie night etc and we will, as always, be asking for volunteers.

I would like to thank all FONS committee members, past and present for their support and hard work and I look forward to working with you all at our future events.

If any groups of parents would like to form a new committee in the future, we will be more than happy to reinstate FONS.

Bags2School - May '17

In May we arranged a Bags2School collection, a chance for everyone to have a clothing clear out at home and for some funds to be raised for school.

From your donations we raised £80. Thank you.

FONS Easter Sponsored Bounce - April '17

Back for a 2nd year after being a very successful event in 2016. All our children were given the opportunity to bounce for a limited time whilst their number of bounces was recorded. We asked our children to try and get sponsors for this great fun Easter event.

The amount raised from this event was absolutely amazing... £3000!

We are overwhelmed by your generosity.

Thank you to our parents/carers for their amazing support.

The FONS Valentine's Disco raised a fantastic £540! A great time was had by all.

Y2 Ocarinas

Funds raised by FONS were recently used to purchase a class set of ocarinas.

All year groups from Year 2 to Year 6 learn a musical instrument. For Year 2 it's the ocarina and here are Class 2W learning how to play it.

The ocarina belongs to a very old family of instruments, believed to date back over 12,000 years. The word ocarina means "little goose".

The FONS Halloween Disco 2016 - Everyone had a fantastic Spooktacular time and a fabulous £681.68 was raised! Thank you to all who helped.

November 4th 2015 saw the launch of the new "Friends Of Norristhorpe School". A group of parents, relatives and staff who are determined to arrange a calendar of new events and fund raising ..., whilst continuing with the most popular and successful from the past.

For this new group to flourish your help is needed, please. Whatever your connection to our pupils, be you mum, grandma, step-dad or child minder there is always something you can do to help. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. Everyone is welcome to make suggestions. All offers of help will be gratefully accepted. Please let the school office know if you would like to be involved.

Norristhorpe PFA has done a fabulous job over many years, raising funds and organising events. The last two events organised by Norristhorpe PFA were firstly the children's fingerprint calendar which raised £400! Then final event was the Halloween Disco (2015) - in fact there were three discos which enabled all our pupils from the Reception classes to Year 6 to enjoy an event suitable for their age group. Everyone had a "fangtastic" time  and an amazing £746.48 was raised!
